The city’s GCAP, approved in September 2017, identifies and prioritises a number of environmental areas of focus over the coming years. These include transport and its impact on air pollution and congestion, energy efficiency in buildings, municipal solid waste management, and green spaces. The city’s GCAP puts forward actions to address these priorities, including renewing the city’s bus fleet, promoting the use of renewable energy in buildings, improving solid waste collection and introducing new green spaces. Across all identified measures, Tbilisi’s GCAP has the potential to reduce Tblisi’s CO2 emissions by approximately 450,000 tonnes per year.
Currently, Tblisi is implementing policy actions and investments as outlined in the GCAP in a move towards a more sustainable future.
